I'm not your average person mainly because I'm the kind that would consider lineworking as a profession. With that in mind, where do I start? What certifications do I need?

Start with an apprenticeship through a union like the IBEW or a local utility company. You'll also likely need to get certifications and these can vary by state but often include things like OSHA safety training, CPR, 1st aid and specific certifications for climbing and equipment operation to show you know your stuff and can handle the risks.

it's faster than you think. the OSHA itself needs at least 10 hours of training

You'll need a high school diploma or GED and a clean driving record and some basic electrical or mechanical know-how helps. You dont need certifications to get started, but on the job you'll pick up things like OSHA safety, CPR and pole climbing training. Its tough, hands-on work, often outside in all kinds of weather, but if you're up for it, its a solid career.
