Electrical switch gear?

Saw an interesting video in computer science class and im really curious about what's going on in it. It looked like something involving high voltage, something like a line reactor disconnect switch since I remember it showing a 3-phase air disconnect switcher attempting to open the high voltage, but I'm not so sure what that actually is or if what's happening in the video is normal or intentional. Any ideas?

@cozypanda so, what you probably saw was a 3 phase air disconnect switch opening under load, or even just breaking residual current from a line reactor
The arcing and big sparks are totally normal and intentional! but yeah, it's really awesome to watch

Not an expert but if it showed a 3-phase air disconnect switch arcing while opening, Can be a test or a failure since those switches are not meant to break load current. Sometimes they're paired with gas interrupters to handle the arc safely. but if one fails, you get that lightning show.
Was it like a demo or a real incident?

If it was a 3-phase air disconnect opening under load, that arcing you saw might've looked cool but it's not normal or safe. Those switches aren't meant to break load, just isolate.
